    Hello ladies and gents...
An update as to what is going on in my life. I had been working endlessly to finsh the turbo project all last week. It was finallized on Friday nite. How sweet it looked. My builder/friend and I took her for a spin and I was in the passenger seat tunning my car. First at 6 psi.. then 8 psi, then 12 psi.. and finally 14 psi. All I have to say is that I had never felt so scared being in a passengers seat in my life. smile Shortly afterward my baby was completely tuned and happy, needless to say.. EXTREMELY fast. So I am feeling kinda ballsy and decide that I wanna go to the local hangout and pick up a race since it's been a hella long time since I have been able to play. Sure enough the only person that was worthy was a nasty ass camaro w/ an LS1 w/ a stroker motor to a 383, nitros, and one halacious cam and who know what else. That is the only thing I knew about it. Did I forget to mention he was on slicks?? Get this ... he has the odasity to ask if I can give him the move and he wasnted to go from a roll?? ME?? A 4 cylinder?? I said okay what the hell.. sure.. Before I continue let me say that I had not driven my own car at all that night as I was in the passenger seat with a computer at hand. With that said.. I didn't know what to expect while driving. Okay.. So I am driving next to him on the 5 mile long feeder.. and finally he decides to punch it.. so I ablige and nail my car.. unfortunetly I was already at 7000rpm and didn't have much of 1st gear left. To my surprise boost came on soo suddenly and so hard that by the time I realized and caught hold of my senses. My tack was at 9600 rpm's!!! I missed 2nd 2 times and finally got it in.. 2nd gear came and went and I was on his ass like white on rice. 3rd gear and I was in front of him, and 4th gear had me about 3 cars in front.. We slow down and then he says his throttle cable came off.. but yet he is still able to accelerate to the next driveway??? Yeah right... it was time to up the jets biggrin However thru that 10K episode.. my alternator belt took a shit and my battery light was on. Sure enough I popped the hood and fortunetly it was still there in one piece. My friends slapped it on and I was ready once again. So now he is ready to go and soo am I smile He once again ask for the move .. this time however I was at my sweet spot 4K in 2nd gear when he nailed it.. bad mistake I whipped his ass like a red headed step child. "What the hell does that thing run??" he asked. He had no exuses that time but wanted to go at it once more. That is where I screwed up. I still was not competent enough to drive my car. He nails it again at a not to optimal time for me and I over rev my car again.. not once, but twice AGAIN!! in first gear. The power was just halacious... get into 2nd and disaster struck.. a huge puff of black smoke out of my exhaust and that was all my baby wrote. I dropped my intake valve in #3 and totally recked my motor, head, turbo, and pocketbook frown OUCH!!!!! No exuses for my own stupidity.. I now know better why it is soo important to have a rev limiter. I had not set my rev limiter on the speedpro thinking I would not go that high and would know better.. I can assure you.. next time I will have an msd 6al instead of the 6a I currently have. To give you an idea of the damage.. The head is completely distroyed, My JE piston looks like someone got a hammer and beat the living shit out of it for 10 hours straight.. My sleave is scared severly, fragment of the debre ended up in cylinder 1. That was not soo bad though. What was bad however was the fact that Alot of the chunks of the valve flew right thru the exhaust and tore up the turbo's blades.. then I thought.. hell if I would of had the supercharger it wouldn't have messed that up.. Bull crap.. When I took off the head and took the intake manifold off.. I found the valve broke in two pieces inside the intake manifold frown So much for that thought!!! Many of you thought are reading might think.. damned.. I would be soo pissed off. But in all actuallity.. I have learned a very important lesson this weekend. Our motors have there limits.. and although I have crower springs and retainers.. they too have there limits and I exceeded them smile If you had any clue how fast this car was you would understand why I am building it right back up. But this time.. it's going to be even scarier smile I have learned my important lesson about revs.. and will now be building a 2.0 L gsr motor with darton sleeves. I thought my car was pretty descent with my supercharger.. The turbo at 14 psi changed my perspective of fast.. and at 25 psi.. I will probably be too damned scared to drive this beast .... smile biggrin Oh and buy the way.. to give you an idea .. the camaro was running a high 11 smile Oh well .. when shit breaks.. make it faster!!!

If he really had a 383 LS1 (not to mention the NOS too) and you kept up with him, he needs to go back to whoever tuned his car and ask for a refund. The 383 w/cam alone should have made the race a joke. With nos...sheesh. Seomthing was wrong with his car.

Either way, I bet he felt stupid for having someone keep up.

good story man..sorry about your motor...may it rest in peace with my previous motor in the big gsr graveyard in the sky.

14psi is a fun on gsr's...but i agree with burntgsr...something was seriously up with his modded ls1 if he lost to a 14psi turbo gsr.

Well, with the car being a civic hybrid, it might not have been too bad but with slicks (ET streets or real slicks?), he should have wiped the floor. Guys are pulling some seriously low 60' times with slicks, at least at the track. Racing at a roll while using slicks? This guy must've been a total idiot. He gave away a huge advantage acting like it was your advantage? Anyhow, sorry..I get really annoyed with people who're too stupid to own what they have.

Maybe he thought it wouldnt be a fair race if they went from a stop. Possibly he wanted a challenge, and so gave the civic the advantage of going from a roll?

well... I never said the camaro was in tip top shape guys.. My friend that built my car has a 383 motor in his camaro. He was the one that told me it would be a good race so we both went for it.. I never asked to go from a roll because quite honestly my car launches just fine even with it being front wheel drive. I never said I was on crappy street tires guys biggrin .. He had et streets. I will say this.. his car sounded like total ass it was way.. way.. way.. over cammed. But none the less that is what he had and it was by no means a slow ass car. My car on the other hand was barely weighing in at 2000 lbs smile and had some halacious power. It's okay.. hell I personally could care less if you don't believe me.. I just thought I would let the world know how I screwed up, I have nothing to gain as I can never back up that story since I don't have hard figures in the form of a time slip.. but I have about 20 witnesses smile and a very sore pocket book to boot. But I will be back.. and that is a promise !!!
